Awesome Summers Start Here!

There's no better place for kids to make new friends, learn new skills, and discover their potential than Summer Camp at Edge Martial Arts.

Our summer day camps take the positive physical, mental, and emotional growth that karate offers year-round and roll it into fun games and exciting karate lessons in an unforgettable summer camp format, perfect for ages 6 and up. Whether your child is already a student at the dojo looking to have something familiar and fun this summer, or brand new just looking for an exciting summer camp experience, our camps will be a highlight of your child’s summer. Our campers make new friends, get outdoors, and build self-confidence — and have a ton of fun doing it!

Make New Friends

Karate camp is an awesome way to make new friends — our karate training, games, and activities develop social skills, as well as teamwork and leadership abilities. Our karate campers develop friendships with one other that they’ll carry with them for years to come. Ask any of our long-time students, and they’ll tell you that friendships at the dojo are friendships for life.

Get Outdoors

Our camps are always a great mix of indoors and outdoor training and activities. We’re right next door to the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park, and have access to some amazing outdoor spaces right here at the Hudson River Landing building as well! Weather-permitting, we take full advantage of these spaces to train, play, and enjoy the summer the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed: outdoors!

Get Moving

No knock on any of the skill-based summer camps and activities available to kids, but we’re big believers that kids should spend more time active and moving than in front of a screen! Karate campers will help kids of all ages build strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and motor skills in a fun and challenging environment! Whether your child is naturally athletic, struggles with coordination and motor skills, or simply needs more movement in their life — karate camp is an awesome way to invest in those skills and have fun doing it!

Build Confidence

Karate is a challenging skill to learn, and kids will find themselves challenged in all the best ways while learning it. As they develop their skills, they’re also developing their self-confidence; even more important than learning self-defense skills, they’re learning that if they put their mind to something and work hard, they can achieve it! The work ethic, discipline, and confidence that the martial arts teaches kids (and adults!) are skills they’ll carry with them into school, into other activities, and into their lives.

A Typical Camp Day

Our camp days run 9:00am to 4:00pm. We do have early drop-off and late pick-up options as well! For some of our younger campers, a half-day option (usually 9:00am-12:30pm) may be available, depending on the camp.

Weather-permitting, we usually start our camp at the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park, taking full advantage of the beautiful fresh air before it gets hotter later in the day. While we’re at the park, campers might have a chance to play some organized games, have their first karate lesson of the day, and get some time on the playground.

When we’re back at the dojo (karate school), our camp day consists of: a couple more karate lessons throughout the day; games like dodgeball, karate kickball, soccer, and frisbee; activities like puzzles, card and board games, and arts and crafts; and a movie that we watch over the course of the week. Weather-permitting, we’ll also get back outdoors at some point in the afternoon — whether for a game in the park, or even just a snack in the shade at one of the outdoor areas here at the Hudson Landing Building. We ask all campers bring their own lunch each day, but we do provide snacks for kids who might need a little something extra to keep their energy up!
