COVID19 PROTOCOLS UPDATE:
TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2022
Dear Students, Parents, and Dojo Community Members,
Thank you so much for your patience and diligence regarding our mask policies and safety guidelines the last two years. We have really appreciated the support we have received from the community, and are looking forward to tomorrow, when we can finally lift the mask mandate. In accordance with NYS guidelines and the surrounding school districts, all classes will be mask optional starting Wednesday, March 2nd. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces in the dojo!
We request that we continue to keep the number of spectators in the dojo to a minimum – if you would like to come in at the beginning or end to watch a few minutes, you will of course be welcome to do so. If you would like to remain in the dojo the whole time, please consider wearing a mask, so that the students in the class can safely train without masks.
We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation closely and adhere to appropriate guidelines. Please read below for details on what’s changing, and what’s staying the same!
- Masks are now optional for all individuals. If you or your child are unvaccinated, we ask that you consider wearing a mask for the safety of yourself and those around you.
- Hand sanitizing will continue to happen at arrival for all students, regardless of vaccination status.
- Temperature screening is no longer required for entry.
- Parents and guardians are now permitted to observe class from the lobby. We ask that visitors please consider wearing a mask.
- As always (really, ALWAYS) please stay home / keep your kids home if they have a fever, cough, or other symptoms of COVID, flu, or the common cold. We’ll be excited to see students for a makeup class when they’re feeling 100%.
COVID19 PROTOCOLS UPDATE:
SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2021
Dear Students, Parents, and Dojo Community Members,
We’re excited by the CDC’s recommended mask guidance issued earlier this month, and New York State’s decision to implement that guidance into statewide policies. With vaccinations underway and things opening back up, a sense of “normal” feels like it’s on the horizon!
However, since many of our younger students are not yet eligible for vaccination, most of our COVID policies remain largely unchanged. Please read below for details on what’s changing, and what’s staying the same!
- Temperature screening and hand sanitizing will continue to happen at arrival for all students, regardless of vaccination status.
- Parents and guardians are now permitted to observe class from the lobby; as long as social distance can be maintained, NYS has lifted our limited capacity requirements. Masks are still required for all parents and guardians, regardless of vaccination status, during kids’ classes. Visitors (including parents and guardians) must continue to sign-in prior to entering, as well as participate in the temperature screening and hand sanitizing procedures.
- For all kids’ under-belt (white belt through adv. brown belt) classes, masks are required for all students, regardless of vaccination status. We ask that parents make sure their child’s mask is well-fitted (e.g. must sit on the bridge of the nose without falling down, with little to no gap at the sides). Please, no gaiters or scarves.
- For black belt classes (all black belts students are already over the age of twelve, due to our minimum age requirements for black belt rank) and in Teen & Adult classes, our mask policy will shift to *optional* if all class participants are fully vaccinated (including the requisite 14 day period following the final dose of the vaccine). If any student(s) in the class are unvaccinated, masks will be required for all class participants. Please continue to bring a mask to all classes for the time-being.
- Instructors, regardless of vaccination status, will continue to wear masks in classes with any students under the age of 12, or in any classes with unvaccinated students of any age.
- Proof of vaccination may take the form of a physical vaccination card, photo/copy of vaccination card, or NYS Excelsior Pass app.
- The cap for class sizes is now at 18 students (as of May 15, 2021). If you or your child need to do a makeup class, please email or call in advance to ensure there’s space!
- As always (really, ALWAYS) please stay home / keep your kids home if they have a fever, cough, or other symptoms of COVID, flu, or the common cold. We’ll be excited to see students for a makeup class when they’re feeling 100%.
